Active Shooter Full-Scale Exercise – Ellendale Public School
The North Dakota Safety Council would like to inform residents of Ellendale that a full-scale Active Shooter Exercise will be conducted at Ellendale Public School on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
Beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m., residents can expect to see numerous law enforcement, fire, and EMS vehicles responding throughout the community. An Air Life helicopter will also be participating in the exercise. Emergency vehicles will be traveling to and from the school with lights and sirens activated at various times during the exercise.
The training is expected to continue until approximately 3:00 p.m.
This is only a training exercise. There is no threat to the public. The exercise is designed to provide first responders with realistic training to enhance coordination, communication, and emergency response capabilities.
Residents are encouraged to avoid the immediate area of Ellendale Public School during the exercise to help ensure the safety and effectiveness of the training.
If you have any questions regarding the exercise, please contact Kathy Zander at the North Dakota Safety Council, 701-751-6105 or kathyz@ndsc.org.
We appreciate the community’s understanding and support as local and regional emergency responders work together to strengthen their preparedness for critical incidents.
